The global population, approximately 1.6 billion in 1900, is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050. The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations estimates world food production has to be doubled on existing farmland to keep pace with the population growth. Rice is the staple crop for more than half of the world population. Asia accounts for Ninety percent of rice production and consumption, and agriculture provides livelihood for more than 1 billion people. India is one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of rice. With 110 million acres under rice production India produces approx. 97 million tons of rice. With a large population of 1.2 billion and still growing, India needs significant farm productivity gains.

Research and innovation are the key pillars of Savannah® business. We have a rich scientific talent pool. During the last four years the company has hugely invested to build the best in class research infrastructure and research & development organization. The company has established two Nodal Research Stations with more than forty five Satellite Research Centers.

Product Testing

All product combinations are evaluated against five key characteristics: grain yield, milling yield, disease tolerance, grain quality and lodging tolerance. Our breeding efforts are focused on developing best in class smart rice® with consistent delivery.
